Audubon Nature Center- Insect Discovery Field Trip

We had a fabulous time at the Audubon Nature Center last Friday searching for insects and other signs of spring. Our scholars enjoyed the Butterfly Migration game, flying from Vermont to Mexico and back, trying to avoid the hungry "birds". We learned about how insects camouflage themselves and had some fun camouflaging ourselves in the woods. We found some insects on the forest floor. A highlight of our trip was scooping in the peeper pond. We found dragonfly nymphs, mosquito larvae, water beetles, and other forms of insect life. We also found tadpole eggs, tadpoles, leeches and..... a crayfish with eggs. It was a great trip!
