Fourth Grade Buddy Visit

On Friday, our fourth grade buddies joined us for a turkey project.  Through this activity, kinderbuddies learned a little bit more about their fourth grade buddies. Turkeys were colored and decorated according to specific directions such as a certain color according to the number of siblings, color of their own eyes, and even their own age. Each turkey was individual and unique. It was a fun way to learn about SAME and DIFFERENT.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Math Time - - - Outdoors

On Wednesday, we took math outside.  Behind our school there are some well marked trails that lead to an outdoor classroom. There are benches made of logs to sit on and many interesting trees and plants to observe.

We gathered leaves and put them in order from smallest to largest.

We also spent some time gathering large branches to better mark the edges of the trails. The class really had a lot of fun with trail maintenance.  We look forward to hiking on the trail in another week or two to notice how our trail and outdoor classroom space looks with snow.

RES Popcorn and Movie Day

Student's enjoying the movie "Chrysanthemum" while munching on popcorn at our classroom movie theatre! During math, we compared the number of letters in Chrysanthemum's name (13) to the number of letters each of our names.

RES students are learning about nutrition and staying healthy. Mr. Godfrey has been teaching kindergarten students about GO FOODS this month in Physical Education classes. Our class wrote a group poem about GO FOODS. We illustrated the poem with drawings of GO FOODS. Groups of four or five students read the poem to other adults in the building to include Mrs. Salant, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Crenshaw, Mrs. Marcotte and Ms. Kent. Today, our scholars presented the poem to Mr. Godfrey.

This from the UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program:
•Grains are Go foods, they help you run, jump and play all day.
•Fruits and vegetables are Glow foods, they help you have shiny hair and sparkly eyes.

•Milk and meat & beans are Grow foods, they help you to grow big and strong.

Here is a class photo from Sports and Hobby Day! We had ballerinas, gymnasts, a skier, a guitar player, a horse rider, as well as baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball and football jerseys.  What a fun way to celebrate positive behavior.
