The first five weeks of school, the kindergarten social studies unit was Our Caring School. We learned a variety or routines such as how we work at tables, how to take care of the materials in the classroom and how we we clean up when finished with projects. We learned about expected behaviors at story time, work time and during center time. All of this was through the many fun activities tied to the stories of the Gingerbread Man. In our classroom, we read several different versions of the Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl and even the Gingerbread Baby. Through the many reading, drawing, cutting and painting activities, kindergarten scholars learned about their responsibilities as students at Richmond Elementary School. Here are some of the pictures that I took showing children engaged in the many gingerbread related activities during the first several weeks of school.
